I am currently reading To Kill A Mockingbird in school right now and my teacher was talking about how it SHOULD make you uncomfortable and that is all part of the culture and understanding the time period when it was acceptable to call people the N-word. I hear people in the halls using this word so lightly(both black and white). I wonder if they realize all the baggage that comes with the word. Thankfully, as a general, we have over come the racist behavior.
