Win "The Family Fang," a portrait of a nice, dysfunctional family

You think your family's crazy? Wait until you meet Caleb and Camille Fang, a couple who propel parental dysfunction to a new level. In Kevin Wilson's new comic novel,"The Family Fang," we meet the Fangs, who use their two kids in performance art pieces reminiscent of "Punk'd" episodes.

The children grow up to be artists, too. Annie's an actress, Buster becomes a writer. But both their careers are imploding. Topless photos of Annie are all over the Internet. Buster suffers a serious injury when he's nailed in the face by a potato gun.

Wilson will give a reading 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24 at Park Road Books, 4139 Park Road.

And I'm giving away two copies of his book. To win one, leave a comment here with some way to identify you, not just anonymous. You'll get extra points for sharing your own crazy family story. I'll post the winners Wednesday, Aug. 24.

As one of 7 siblings who are only ten yrs between the oldest (me) and the youngest. there were enough stories that could be told. Now there are 11 nieces and nephews that are adding to the family. In fact one of the cute little things that my 2 yr old nephew does is call my mother (his grandmother) Mom. because he hears his mother and his aunts and uncles call her Mom so he figures it is her name.

Extraordinary book. Families all have their quirks. Some more than others. We aren't a large family but when we get together it is laughable since we all look so much alike and behave the same way. Except during a recent wedding not one photo was shot of any of the family that travelled far and wide to attend. Only the other side, and friends. this was disconcerting.

I could tell of how my parents gutted their formal living room so that my two adopted brothers, my father and I could play ping pong endlessly through our formative years. And of how guests were caught by surprise, but -alas -space won't allow a full recounting of that tale. Still, I'd love to own a copy of "Family Fang"

Welcome to a family of neurotics. But then that was a healthy way to live way back and we did not dwell on things. We managed to accomplish and be miserable most of the time. No complaining allowed or else.

This is on the top of my "I hope the library gets this book soon" list...most of my stories are too long for just a comment, but I can say that our home movies from Yellowstone include a yellow snowball fight and Prairie Dog Chip throwing contest and hand sanitizer wasn't even invented yet...
